Echo is a private Android recall app by Natsu Labs. It helps you find photos, screenshots, imported files, and text memories using an index created locally on your device.
What Echo accesses
With your permission, Echo can access photos and screenshots that Android allows it to see. Depending on the Core Tech you enable, Echo may process filenames, folders or albums, media metadata, OCR text, visual labels, object detections, similarity fingerprints, and local classification results.
Echo can also store notes, clipboard text, shared text, and imported-file metadata only when you intentionally add or share that content with the app.
Why photo access is requested
Broad photo access supports Echo’s core function: building and refreshing a searchable on-device recall index across the photo library you permit Android to expose. On supported versions, you may grant access only to selected photos; Echo then processes only those selected items.
Local processing and storage
OCR, visual analysis, indexing, ranking, and search run on your Android device. Echo stores its private recall index in the app’s local database. The current release does not upload your photos, screenshots, OCR text, visual evidence, search queries, or recall index to Natsu Labs or a cloud AI provider.
Accounts, ads, and analytics
Echo does not require an account. The current release does not include advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs, and Natsu Labs does not receive automatic usage reports from the app.
Notifications and background work
If you enable notifications and Auto Memory Sync, Echo may notify you when new local files are detected, while Memory Sync is running, and when processing completes. Auto Memory Sync uses Android’s background-work system and only processes files available under your current permissions.
Diagnostics and user-initiated sharing
Echo includes optional diagnostics and feedback actions. Diagnostic reports are designed to exclude filenames, OCR text, image content, and screenshot content. Nothing is sent automatically. When you choose Share or Feedback, Android opens a system share surface or another app you select, and that app’s privacy policy applies.
Your controls
- Change or revoke photo and notification permissions in Android Settings.
- Turn Auto Memory Sync off inside Echo.
- Clear Echo’s local index without deleting original gallery files.
- Uninstall Echo to remove its app-local database through Android’s normal uninstall behavior.
Children
Echo is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes and contact
If a future release adds cloud processing, accounts, advertising, analytics, or materially different data practices, this policy and Google Play disclosures will be updated before that release is distributed.
